I had been looking to pick up a new blender for a while now, something to replace my old, leak-prone blender, and I finally decided on the Nutribullet 9000. After a few weeks of use, I now consider it one of the key appliances in my kitchen.
The Nutribullet has seen huge popularity recently, popping up in social media streams – something I don’t think I’ve ever seen with any other kitchen appliance before. In the past, most households would have had a blender but it would usually be resigned to the back of the cubboard, taken out only a few times a year for the novelty value.
The Nutribullet is different though, it takes centre stage on my kitchen counter and gets nearly daily use. You hear people, who wouldn’t consider themselves very healthy conscious, raving about it and the new smoothie recipe they found.
There are two things that make the Nutribullet buck the trend of ‘regular blenders’, things that make it almost fashionable (if you could consider a blender “fashionable”) – its very powerful and its super easy to clean. When I think back of the other blenders I’ve owned, they always struggled with large chunks of frozen fruit/ice cubes and they were a pain to clean.
Not the case with the Nutribullet (and the ‘9000’ model in particular) – it packs a 9000 Watt motor, which is the equivalent to 1.2 horse power (!), and a good rinse will clean it right up. The reason why it is so much easier to clean than the older blender designs is because the blades are detachable from the base and from the jug/container parts. I might come across as just lazy going on about how easy it is to clean, but if it means I can prepare, make and clean up after a smoothie in 5 minutes before leaving for work in the morning then I will use it every day. If it takes the 5 minutes just to clean the thing, I will think twice about spending my precious morning minutes with it.
As the name suggests, the Nutribullet is shaped like a bullet. You get a few different sized cups and on to this you screw on the blade unit. This slots easily down into the base unit, which contains the motor. There are no buttons or dials, you just press down the cup and this starts the blending. Within 30 seconds, you will have whatever food thoroughly blended. Slot off the cup and then twist off the blades unit. The 9000 model comes with travel and twist-on lids so you are ready right after blending it. Easy!
